What sparks will fly when Western opera meets the cultural heritage of mountains and seas? A special lecture themed Chinese and Western Opera: An Artistic Dialogue was recently held at the small theatre of Sanmen County Cultural Center. David Walsh, an internationally renowned opera director, visited Sanmen for the first time, delivering an accessible and in-depth masterclass on opera art for local literary and art practitioners and enthusiasts.

当西方歌剧艺术邂逅山海文脉，会碰撞出怎样的火花？近日，“中西歌剧·艺术对话”专题讲座在三门县文化馆小剧场举行。国际知名歌剧导演大卫·沃尔什首度走进三门，为三门县文艺工作者和爱好者带来一堂深入浅出的歌剧艺术分享课。

At the lecture, David Walsh used plain and vivid language to dispel the common stereotype that opera is aloof and obscure. Drawing on his decades-long career in the global opera industry, he elaborated on stage arrangement, performance logic and artistic characteristics of classic Western operas. Notably, he made comparative analyses between Western opera and traditional Chinese opera. He explored the similarities and differences of the two art forms from perspectives of expression techniques, aesthetic concepts and cultural connotations, and put forward prospects for integrated innovation, offering the audience a refreshing perspective.

讲座现场，大卫·沃尔什以通俗生动的语言，打破大众对歌剧“高冷晦涩”的印象。结合自身数十年国际歌剧从业经历，他详细拆解了西方经典歌剧的舞台调度、表演逻辑与艺术特质。值得一提的是，他将西方歌剧与中国传统戏曲进行对比分析，从表现形式、审美理念到文化内涵，逐一探讨两种艺术体系的异同，并提出融合创新的可能性，令在场观众耳目一新。（记者：吴卓鸿）
