In 1942, after completing their bombing run, Crew #7 ran out of fuel and was forced to make an emergency landing in the occupied Nantian area of Sanmen (now on the coast of Xiangshan, Zhejiang). Four crew members were severely injured, and one lightly injured. The military and civilians of Sanmen County launched a 72-hour life-and-death rescue, crossing Japanese and puppet troop patrol areas, breaking through heavy blockades, and finally sent the wounded for medical treatment, writing a chapter of human glory in the war.
