On April 18, 1942, sixteen B-25 bombers took off from the USS Hornet to carry out the mission of bombing Tokyo. Suffering from fuel shortage, two of the aircraft crashed in the waters of Sanmen Bay. Faced with several severely injured American pilots, military and civilian residents of Sanmen in Taizhou stepped forward and launched a thrilling rescue out of their own volition. Marking the 81st anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, Sanmen County Media Center has produced the AI short drama Island Rescue.
